A Boston Globe blog on home and clothing fashion
My room and apartment will always be filled with photos of family and friends. Color. Black-and-white. Tattered. With or without edges. The motley crew of memories was housed in equally random frames of shapes and sizes. Whenever we moved into our Somerville apartment 3 years ago,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the frames on tabletops and dressers cluttered the overall minimalist feel of our home. (And by minimalist, I mean Ikea and not a lot of it. Minimalist is the new thrifty, people.)
Thus, our photo wall was created.
We spent hours choosing frames and hammering them into the wall just so. Despite the fact that I love the depth and texture of actual frames, I just stumbled upon Swedish it designer Lisa Bengtsson's one-dimensional means to fix the same more-photos-than-places-to-put-them problem:
Classic bag man Carlos Falchi,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who is known for his textured leather purses and loyal customers (past and present) such as Jackie O., Mick Jagger and Cate Blanchett,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is the newest Tar-jay collaborator.
The 13-piece limited edition line will be the store's eighth designer accessories launch past designers have included Botkier, Felix Rey,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Anya Hindmarch (which was so anticipated last October the entire collection sold out in two minutes). Falchi's bags is going to be available on the web and in stores from Oct. 11 to Dec. 27 and will be made of faux snakeskin in jewel tones, according to Women's Wear Daily.
Cause the stampedes of bag lovers.
While planning my wedding over the past eight months, I've visited more wedding-centric blogs that I care to admit. (I'm not a Bridezilla,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people. I just need some inspiration.) My favorite read is Brooklyn Bride.
The tagline,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? "Planning a modern wedding in a realm of pink flowers and poofy dresses." Amen. Creator Van Broussard an inside designer by day writes about everything from calligraphy and stationery to bridal shows and funky vendors.
I especially drool over her "Real wedding inspiration" posts which showcase the amazing little details and moments that make up the Big Day.
A certain stylish Globe sports reporter approached me with a question yesterday: Where could he look for a chic trench coat for his girlfriend? True, the majority of the country is much past winter but here in the hinterlands, we need extra layers to obtain us through crisp morning commutes early in the year. (Please, forget about photos of celebs frolicking within the California sun. Not cool.)
I heart trench coats. And although I really like the classic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], tan London Fog look there are so many color, cut, and elegance variations available. Here are some of my favorite finds, in no particular order:
I have to confess that i am slowly warming up to "The Fashion Show,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," on Bravo. There are stuff that are bugging me still (present an opinion on the in-progress clothes. please!), but it is filling an essential void in my life. Fine, it's becoming my life. Shall we recap yesterday?
I was not crazy about the winning look and felt that Anna should have won, but since this was an ensemble for Ashley Tisdale, taste was clearly not taken into account. I was just happy that red eye shadow tulle lady was the main one sent home.
I decided to check Bravo's site today to determine how faithfully the winning outfits were replicated for sale, and they're pretty close, and never too expensive. How about it 'Philers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], would you get yourself a dvd looks, or just say "Bye bye,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], darling."
Yes, the recession is hitting all of us hard. But, celebs, please: Cut your own bangs if you cannot afford a hairdresser. You are looking mighty unkept. I imagine there are many things you need eyes for: to scowl in the paparazzi; to ensure you're the only one wearing vintage Chanel on the red carpet; to navigate said red carpet in 10-inch Louboutins; and namely, to bat lashes at The actor-brad pitt. (Or, maybe that's just me.)
Alternately, if this sounds like some sort of group protest as in, we won't cut our hair until Lohan wears pants, legitimate, nobody really wants to observe that then keep on keeping on, ladies.
Well chickens, it's like spring is finally here. I know this because my eye allergies are earning me look like a bloodhound. and (this is actually the more essential one), the SoWa Open Market returns this weekend. Additionally, there are the SoWa Food and convey Market, which year, the SoWa Antiques Market debuts. every day. Happy shopping.
There will be something known as the "Look Your very best at Every Age" beauty happy hour event taking place at the Boston Harbor Hotel on May 18th. Now, I know all of you already look your very best and such a meeting is most likely of no interest. But for people searching for a little advice, this gathering is free,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and, better still, there is a sweet swag bag.
Here's the state description:
Biolage haircare, Lancome skincare and well-known Boston nutritionist Courtney Little is going to be on-hand to supply free expert consultations to consumers who wish to appear younger without having to spend thousands on expensive treatments and surgeries. Receive an exclusive gift bag loaded with $150 worth of beauty goodies, including Biolage rejuvatherapie, and enter a contest to win a thrilling weekend spa getaway.
The only real only thing you have to attend is register ahead of time. Space is restricted, so if you're interested, register here.
Television critics have sliced, diced, and sautéed Bravo's "The Fashion Show," which debuted a week ago. As you've already determined, it's the cable network's new "Project Runway," since it lost the reality gem to Lifetime following a lengthy court battle. The primary complaint about "The Fashion Show" is the fact that it's trying too hard to become "Project Runway." Well, as we accustomed to say in sixth grade, duh, obviously it's.
I didn't think it is to become as offensive as others. It will take getting accustomed to, and some of the contestants make my skin crawl (see above), but otherwise it had been engaging. The worst thing about this were the garments,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but hopefully that improve with future challenges.
But I want to know what you think, dear readers. Will you be tuning in again now for that "Fashion Show"? Love it or hate it, I wish to hear your thoughts.
A few years ago I wrote a story concerning the envelope-pushing perfumer Christophe Laudamiel, who has developed fragrances for Tom Ford,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ralph Lauren,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Estee Lauder. He's the tremendously talented bad boy of the perfume industry. This spring he's staging the world's first scent opera in NYC.
Laudamiel will be in Boston in the French Library on May 11,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so if you feel remotely curious about the fragrance industry, you need to attend his talk. It's $15, or $10 a high level member of the French Library. You can RSVP at 617-912-0400.
Here's the description from the night's program:
The planet renowned French perfume creator will invite us to go to one's heart in our senses, to biological levels within the universe of emotions awakened by smells. He'll show us how olfactory senses really are a powerful means of communicating and educating, in the commercial world, plus our personal lives. Laudamiel will talk about using technologies linked to the spread of the scent in order to create a specifically intended ambiance or concept.相关的主题文章:
