ReutersIn a relatively short time, former Redskins returner/wide receiver Brandon Banks has already made a difference for the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.The 25-year-old Banks, who signed with the Ticats on Sept. 30, secured a home playoff game for Hamilton with a 107-yard field goal return touchdown in a 27-24 victory vs. Montreal on Saturday. With Montreal holding a 23-20 lead with a little more than four minutes left in the game, the Alouettes tried a 32-yard field goal. The kick missed the mark, and Banks, who was back in a returner's position, caught the ball and weaved and sprinted down the Montreal sideline for the eventual game-winning touchdown.Earlier in the fourth quarter, Banks made another splash play, scoring a 45-yard touchdown run off left end to cut Montreal's lead to 23-17.The 5-foot-7, 153-pound Banks was not tendered as a restricted free agent by Washington early this year after three seasons with the club. Primarily a returner in Washington, Banks is getting a few more touches on offense with Hamilton, and his quickness and elusiveness appear to suit him well in the CFL game.Hamilton will host the East Division semifinal against Montreal on Nov. 10.
