January 2011 Chinese expat in London,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
'The remarkable rise of the Chinese middle class and its importance to the British economy was clear on the streets of London last week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with Chinese shoppers forming a prominent part of the buyers out hunting for luxury bargains in the post-Christmas sales'
'Chinese shoppers appreciate buying products from the country of origin,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so Mulberry and Burberry are very popular…The Chinese have become the biggest overseas spenders on luxury items,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], beating visitors from Russia and the Arab nations…'
My conclusion is that the Chinese just don't trust Chinese brands and want to buy anything that's not designed in China. And I am the same. I shop in Jack Wills and All Saints; my husband buys me jewellery from Links London; and I am saving up for a new Mulberry bag for my thirtieth birthday. I love British brands. They are neat and smart. They are pieces of art created with care,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], love and passion. And I can find none of those things in Chinese brands they are notorious for poor quality,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], poor design,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], poor attention to details and they are not even cheap any more. Why bother buying things in China?
Ironically,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a huge percentage of British brands are made in China. I have no problem with made in China products,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because if they were not made in China,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they would have been made somewhere else,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], either in Turkey or India or Philippine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], depending on which country costs the least,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and it wouldn't usually be the UK. But if 70% of the goods in Harrods are made in China,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], isn't it a bit silly to travel 13 hours spending thousands of pounds just to get to the shop? If the Chinese factories can make high-end goods,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], why can't Chinese companies create high-end brands that satisfy their home customers?
