A MAYO student won a share of 1,000 along with a work placement after he and his team-mates were named overall winners in The Digital Hub's Very best in Show competition.
Aaron Chalke, Ballintubber was winner of Film and Video Production along with the public voted for, Best in Show award in association with Digital Hub.
Now in its fourth year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Best in Show is really a competition for final-year creative students, who're invited to submit samples of their work towards the Digital Hub for assessment with a team of digital media industry experts.
Aaron Chalke from Ballintubber has just finished his final exams in the BSc in Multimedia course at Dublin City University.

As category-winners, Mr. Chalke and his team-mates also went forward for an online public vote to decide the entire winners of Very best in Show 2010. They beat off competition from finalists in four other categories to win the general public vote and also the 1,000 cash prize. Commenting on his team's success, Aaron Chalke said the possibility of winning a work placement in a leading digital media company was what enticed these phones enter Very best in Show to begin with.
"We're all just finished college now and beginning to look for jobs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and - we all know - it isn't really the best time to become a graduate looking for work. And then we were really pleased that a part of what Very best in Show was offering category-winners would be a two-week work placement. Getting that sort of expertise is really vital that you have on your CV with regards to job interviews in the future.
"Last week, we discovered our entry had won the Film and Video Production category of the competition and, obviously, i was thrilled. Cathy Grieve, who owns Red Diamond Media, said she was delighted the winners in the Film and Video Production category were also chosen by the public because the overall winners of Best in Show.
"I'm greatly getting excited about having these four students dealing with me within the coming months," she said. "The work they submitted for assessment is of the very good quality, and keeps the viewer engaged willing and able to learn more about the subject-matter.
