It a real house in Parkville. In the books, Phryne's house is on St Kilda's The Esplanade. The modernness of the St Kilda landscape these days made it impossible for us to shoot there, so we found a house in Parkville that is very similar to the one Kerry wrote about. It has a beautiful exterior. The interior of the house was built in ABC Gordon St studios, from bedroom to parlour and dining room to kitchen. They built the interior of the police station at ABC's studios in Selwyn Street, Melbourne. Everything else is true Melbourne, including beautiful buildings like Ripponlea and the Treasury. There were some days where we blocked off streets and others where we'd try to do bits in between traffic.
