MLBPA says no decisions by MLB yet on Biogenesis suspensions
NEW YORK, June 5 () -- The MLB commissioner's office has not made any decisions on suspending players in the Biogenesis doping probe, the union's executive director said Wednesday.ESPN reported Tuesday Major League Baseball would seek to suspend about 20 players, including stars such as Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun, for their alleged involvement in the now-closed, anti-aging clinic in Miami that allegedly supplied players with performance-enhancing substances. The disciplinary action could come within two weeks, the network said.Michael Weiner, the Major League Baseball Players Association executive director, said MLB officials were still in the process of interviewing players."The commissioner's office has assured us that no decisions regarding discipline have been made or will be made until those interviews are completed," he said. "It would be unfortunate if anyone prejudged those investigations."The players association has every interest in both defending the rights of players and in defending the integrity of our joint program.
