DETAILS: Ball State issues apology
The investigation was prompted by allegations of misconduct with a confidential source towards the NCAA,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
In a letter towards the NCAA,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ball State athletics director Tom Collins said an investigation by the Kansas-based law firm Bond,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Schoeneck King found Thompson and his staff did not give players basketball shoes for improved grades,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nor did they provide financial help to some player.
The NCAA also had asked the school to research whether Thompson tried to recruit a player from another university. The school's response said the staff were built with a long-term pre-existing relationship with the player and his family,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the staff's connection with the player wasn't an effort to recruit him.
The school also found no evidence to support claims that former volleyball coach Randy Litchfield was fired in retaliation for his staff's reporting of NCAA secondary rules violations through the men's basketball enter in 2006,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
